Animated children’s series Star Trek: Prodigy premieres in October, followed by Discovery season 4 in November and Picard season 2 in February 2022 – so it’s safe to bet World new world will come after Picard launched in February. This isn’t the last Trek show on the road, though – we still have the teased spin-off of Star Trek: Part 31 starring Michelle Yeoh and the animated comedy Star Trek: Lower Decks will return for a third season some time after Strange New World arrives.

What is the plot of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds?

While we still don’t know much about the kind of adventure Enterprise will have, there are some strong indications that the show will return to the franchise’s roots. In an interview with Variety, series co-creator Akiva Goldsman told reporters:

“We’re going to try to revive some classic Trek values, upbeat and more episodes,” Goldsman said. “Obviously, we’re going to take advantage of the serialized nature of the character building and the story. But I think our plot will be more self-contained than what you’ve seen in Discovery or Picard. ”

This will be good news for those who enjoy self-contained stories not only throughout the Original Series but also in Next Generation, Voyager, and Deep Space Nine.

Goldsman went further in another interview with The Hollywood Reporter, recalling the classic Trek to suggest that we’ll see more tonal shifts this time around.

“If you think back to The Original Series, it’s a more tonal free movie – I don’t mean politically, but it could have been more fluid. Like sometimes Robert Bloch writes a horror episode. Or Harlan Ellison will have ‘City on the Edge of Forever’, a tough sci-fi movie. Then there are comedic episodes, like “Shore Leave” or “The Trouble With Tribbles”. Therefore [co-showrunner] Henry Alonso Myers and myself are trying to serve that.”

What we do know is that the series will be set in the decade before Kirk became Captain of the Enterprise, running along the timeline of Star Trek: Discovery. Well, at least the timeline exists in seasons one and two.

In the latter, the fate of Captain Pike is revealed to him, just like in the original episode The Menagerie. Not to spoil anything, but it’s hardly the upbeat, upbeat ending a series expects, so writers have a lot of work to do if they want to avoid letting fans down. Grave cried when the trip ended.

With the exhibition essentially bridging the gap between the Discovery and the Original Series, that means the aesthetic will also change slightly.

“There’s been a few more back turns (for The Original Series) and the uniforms have been tweaked a bit, the suits are a bit different,” Goldsman said. “Remember that Business exists as a small part of [the show Discovery], but now it is its own object. When you close your eyes and think about the main series and situations that make you think about The Original Series, that’s what we’re trying to do. ”

Another rumor that might bring Star Trek fans to tears is the potential appearance of Captain Archer by Scott Bakula. This is still just a rumour, and can be an incredible one when you consider that the Discovery/Stranger New Worlds timeline is about a century after Star Trek: Enterprise.

Despite Noonien-Singh’s inclusion on the crew – with the show set more than 200 years after Khan’s reign on Earth – it’s possible the time-traveling freaks will play their part. again, so Archer’s appearance is not out of the question.

How to watch Star Trek: Strange New Worlds?

Depending on your location, access to New World and other current Star Trek series will be through one or more major streaming services. In the US, you’ll want to use Paramount+, which recently replaced CBS All Access.

Outside of the US, it’s also likely to be Paramount+, but we’re not sure. it can be a bit more complicated. Currently, Amazon Prime Video is the home of Star Trek: Lower Decks and Star Trek: Picard, while Netflix offers all of the older shows.

Discovery was also available on Netflix but was randomly pulled ahead of the season four premiere so it could instead debut on Paramount+ with its international premiere in 2022, which seems like a pretty statement. clear of intent to continue the new Trek that will exclusively debut there.
